Key Policies

A stronger Calgary begins with responsible leadership. Atul Chauhan will ensure every tax dollar is invested wisely to build vibrant communities and create a better quality of life for families, seniors, and future generations.

The Calgary Party is committed to fostering an efficient and well-functioning city. Policies focus on improving governance, enhancing public infrastructure, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Key initiatives include:

  • Streamlining city operations to reduce inefficiencies and enhance service delivery.
  • Investing in sustainable infrastructure to support long-term economic and environmental goals.
  • Promoting transparency and accountability in decision-making processes.

Recognizing Calgary's expanding population, the party emphasizes strategic growth and community development. Policies aim to ensure inclusivity, accessibility, and affordability for all residents. Core measures include:

  • Expanding affordable housing and supporting diverse housing options.
  • Improving public transit systems to connect communities and reduce traffic congestion.
  • Supporting education, healthcare, and other essential services to meet the needs of a growing city.

The Calgary Party prioritizes the safety and well-being of all residents. Policies focus on reducing crime, enhancing emergency response systems, and fostering community resilience. Key actions include:

  • Increasing resources for law enforcement while encouraging community-based policing.
  • Strengthening emergency preparedness and disaster response programs.
  • Supporting initiatives to address root causes of crime, such as mental health and addiction support programs.

Transit Priorities for Ward 3

Expanding Bus Service Now
Ward 3 is one of the fastest-growing areas in Calgary, yet transit options have not kept pace. Immediate improvements are required:

  • Increased frequency on high-demand routes.

  • Additional bus stops to ensure accessibility for seniors, youth, and persons with disabilities.

  • New bus routes to connect emerging communities in Ward 3.

  • Expanded MAX and BRT service linking residents to key destinations such as schools, healthcare centres, shopping hubs, and downtown.

Completing the Green Line
The repeated delays to the Green Line have left North Calgary residents underserved. Completion of the Green Line to the north must be a priority, providing Ward 3 with efficient, reliable transit that connects people to employment, education, and daily life.

Safety and Security on Transit
Transit must be safe and welcoming for riders of all ages. This requires:

  • Increasing the presence of peace officers.

  • Enhancing lighting at stations and bus stops.

  • Installing more accessible emergency “help” buttons.

  • Expanding CCTV coverage to deter crime and improve community safety.

Transit Equity and Quality of Life
Reliable transit is not just a service — it is a matter of equity and quality of life. Ward 3 families deserve a transit system that reduces commuting time, improves access to opportunity, and ensures residents spend more time where it matters most — with family and community.

Recreation Where Ward 3 Families Live

Meeting the Needs of a Growing Ward
Ward 3 is one of the fastest-growing areas in Calgary — but recreation facilities have not kept up. Families shouldn’t have to drive across the city just to access swimming lessons, skating rinks, or community programs. As our population grows, it’s time to bring these services closer to home.

Building Facilities That Belong Here
Residents of Ward 3 deserve modern pools, rinks, arts and cultural centres, and multipurpose gathering spaces that serve every generation — from children to seniors. These facilities should be built where families live, not miles away.

Stretching Every Dollar Further
By partnering with non-profits, schools, and the private sector, we can co-fund projects and get more built for less. With smart partnerships, Ward 3 can secure the recreation spaces it has long been waiting for.

Year-Round Access to Play and Wellness
Expanded trails, Parks, well maintained green spaces, and partnerships with local organizations will ensure Ward 3 residents have opportunities to connect, play, and thrive year-round. Summer or winter, families should be able to enjoy recreation without leaving their community.

Recreation = Quality of Life
Accessible recreation isn’t a luxury — it’s essential to building healthier, happier, and stronger communities in Ward 3.

Calgarians work hard for every dollar they earn—and they deserve a City Council that treats their tax dollars with the same care and responsibility. In Ward 3, residents are facing rising costs, while too often seeing money directed toward projects that don’t reflect their priorities. My commitment is to bring accountability, transparency, and a focus on core needs back to City Hall.

Accountability for Every Dollar

  • Implement stronger oversight on major city projects to prevent cost overruns and delays.

  • Require clear reporting so residents can see exactly where their money is going.

Invest in Core Needs

  • Reallocate funds to essential services Calgarians rely on: public safety, fire services, transit, recreation, and affordable housing.

  • Prioritize fixing aging infrastructure, parks, and community facilities before spending on luxury or “nice-to-have” projects.

  • ensuring tax dollars are utilized and invested efficiently.

Transparency in Decision-Making

  • Push for open data and user-friendly tools so residents can track city spending and outcomes.

  • Hold regular town halls and community meetings in Ward 3 to hear directly from residents.

  • Make transparency the standard, so Calgarians can hold council accountable for every decision.

This is not about cutting services—it’s about rebuilding trust by aligning City spending with what matters most to residents. By focusing on accountability, prioritizing core needs, and ensuring full transparency, we can deliver better value and a stronger Calgary for every taxpayer.
